What is the difference between rigid and flexible coupling in grooved pipe fittings?

The differences in use between the two are as follows:
The grooved rigid clamp coupling refers to the grooved pipe joint with an inclined surface at the butt portion of the split clamp piece. Relative angular displacement and axial linear displacement are not allowed at adjacent pipe ends at the joint. The grooved flexible coupling refers to a grooved pipe joint with a flat butt joint between split clamp parts. A certain amount of relative angular position and corresponding axial rotation is allowed at adjacent pipe ends at the joint.
Regarding the specific selection of grooved coupling, rigid coupling should be used for straight pipe sections, and a flexible coupling should be provided between every 4 to 5 consecutive rigid joints on the pipe section. Rigid grooved coupling should be used to connect straight pipes and pipe fittings. For bent pipes with temperature compensation function, flexible grooved coupling should be used on the pipe sections that produce angular displacement. Buried pipes should use flexible joints. The first joint outside the wall entry pipe of outdoor buried pipes must use a flexible joint, and the distance between the flexible grooved coupling and the external wall should not be greater than 300mm.
