Routine Inspection Checklist for Grooved Pipe Fittings Maintenance

I. Visual Integrity Inspection

Surface Condition Inspection‌

Check for cracks, scratches, pores, or coating peeling on surfaces (prioritize coating integrity for ductile iron/coated composite steel pipes)‌.
Inspect for corrosion, especially in humid or chemical environments‌.

Groove and Connection Inspection‌

Ensure no deformation or wear on groove edges; confirm couplings fit tightly‌.
Check for defects (e.g., sand holes, dents) in welded or cast transition parts (e.g., flanges, tees)‌.

II. Connection Tightness Verification

Bolt and Clamp Status‌

Use a torque wrench to check bolt tightness and ensure compliance with specified torque values‌.
Manually shake pipes to test for gaps between couplings and pipes‌.

Seal Inspection‌

Check rubber seals for aging (hardening, cracking, or loss of elasticity)‌.
Ensure seals are not extruded or deformed from grooves‌.

III. Leak Testing Methods

Basic Leak Detection‌

Apply soapy water to connections and observe for bubbles to identify leaks‌.
Listen for abnormal liquid flow or gas leakage sounds in quiet environments‌.

Professional Testing‌

Conduct water pressure or airtightness tests (e.g., 1.5× working pressure) to verify system integrity‌.

IV. Routine Maintenance Tasks

Cleaning and Corrosion Prevention‌

Remove dust and oil stains; avoid strong acid/alkaline cleaners‌.
Apply rust-proof oil or epoxy coatings to exposed metal parts‌.

Component Replacement‌

Replace worn couplings, bolts, or seals promptly (use identical specifications)‌.

V. Environmental Adaptability Monitoring

Ensure no accumulation of corrosive substances or stagnant water around pipes; keep the environment dry and ventilated‌.

Increase inspection frequency for salt spray corrosion in coastal areas and chemical volatiles affecting coatings in industrial zones‌.
Suggested Inspection Intervals
Monthly‌: At least one visual and tightness inspection‌.
Semiannually‌: Pressure testing and seal condition evaluation‌.

Note‌: Immediately stop use and contact professionals if significant coating peeling or clamp deformation is detected‌.
