About Pipe Fitting Tee 

(Equal Tee and Mechanical Tee)

Equal tee refers to the tee with the branch pipe and the main pipe at 90 degrees.

The mechanical tee can be used to connect the branch pipe directly on the steel pipe. First of all, the hole is opened on the steel pipe with a hole cutter, and then the mechanical tee is stuck into the hole, and the hole is sealed by a sealing ring along the pipe wall. Mechanical tee is divided into groove connection and thread connection.

The trench connection is widely used in fire hydrant systems and sprinkler systems in buildings. Branch pipe joint refers to the saddle-shaped split-type connector connecting the branch pipe after opening a hole in the middle of the straight pipe, which is divided into two types: mechanical tee and mechanical cross. 

Grooved tees and mechanical tees are generally not marked on the design drawings. The connection between mechanical tee or mechanical cross and branch pipe has two kinds of groove connection and threaded connection. When the branch pipe is less than DN50 and the diameter of the main pipe is greater than 2 times the diameter of the branch pipe, mechanical tee can be used (directly opening a hole on the main pipe, spraying branch pipe is used much more to connect with the main pipe), and groove tee can be used in other cases.

The groove tee here is equal tee (the center line of the main branch pipe is at a right Angle), the flat end of each pipe ring groove is machined by a special rolling groove, and the pipe connection requires 3 pairs of corresponding specifications of the clamp to complete a joint, suitable for the connection of the main pipe. As for the mechanical tee main, only the opening machine is used to open the hole without grooving, and the branch pipe or groove (groove connection) or the sleeve wire (thread connection) is suitable for the connection between the main branch pipe (such as the spray branch pipe of the spray system). In addition, there is a small mechanical tee, but the clamp is replaced by a U-shaped card, and the connection between the U mechanical tee and the branch pipe is generally mainly threaded connection, and there may be no groove connection form. The equal tee generally means that the three nozzle diameters are the same, while the reducing three nozzle diameters are not exactly the same. 

Equal tee is used for connecting pipes of the same diameter, and reducing tee is used for connecting pipes of different diameters. The diameter of the branch pipe connected by mechanical tee of the weapon machinery is not equal to the diameter of the main pipe. Mechanical tee has more advantages than ordinary tee. When you want to retrofit an existing pipe system, you can install mechanical tees on the pipe to achieve diversion, rather than having to rebuild a new system through ordinary tees. At the same time, in the application process, the mechanical tee is more cost-effective, and the installation of the mechanical tee can save the use of the clamp compared with the ordinary tee, and it is also more convenient.
